Property and Estate Clearance
On occasions a Delegate, Executor or a family member/friend is faced with the challenge of having to clear a property of its contents.
A large proportion of our work is the sale and clearance of house contents many of which are on behalf of local Advocates and Solicitors acting as Executors of Estates.
We believe the only way to ensure effects are sold for a realistic market value is to offer them at public auction and for this reason we do not buy house contents.
Although selling to a dealer may appear to be an easy, low risk option, you need to remember that a dealer is in business to make a profit, so whatever you are offered is unlikely to be any more than half the market value.
Although you will incur some costs when selling at auction, you will at least be certain that you have received a fair market price for the effects.
We offer various options to suit your individual circumstances:
– Full Clearance
The property will be fully cleared by arrangement, saleable items delivered to auction and non-saleable items disposed of. We can even arrange for the property to be cleaned and the garden to be tidied.
– Part Clearance
We arrange packing and collection of saleable items only and deliver to auction. You dispose of non-saleable items.
If you are unsure whether you have anything of value to be sold, we also offer a free of charge pre-sale appraisal and valuation service.
When a valuation for Probate is requested, our aim is to minimise and facilitate the work of the Executor and visit the property in question as quickly as possible. We always endeavour to deliver the final document to the Executor with the utmost priority, normally within five working days.
Upon receipt of the Grant of Probate we can arrange a total house or estate clearance, entering suitable chattels for auction and also the disposal of any items of no significant value.
Should a beneficiary require any items to be shipped or stored we are able to organise this on their behalf through experienced shippers/packers.
Simon Drieu & Co Limited has a considerable amount of experience in dealing with the intricacies of estate administration, which is why we always ensure the appointment of one of our experienced Directors to oversee and co-ordinate the entire process.
Over time, the value of antiques and general household effects can increase considerably – often without the owner being aware of it. When it comes to insuring these items, it is vital that their true value is recorded so that they are properly covered in the unfortunate event of damage or loss.
Simon Drieu & Co Limited can offer a confidential insurance valuation service to suit your individual needs. The final bound document is easy to interpret and when necessary full colour photographic references and measurements supplement the concise descriptions.
Delegate (Curatorship) Services
Within 90 days of his/her appointment the Delegate must deliver to the Judicial Greffier an inventory of all the property, including real and personal property of the Interdict. The inventory must be verified by an affidavit sworn by the Delegate before a Notary Public, Jurat, Advocate or Solicitor of the Royal Court.
Simon Drieu & Co Limited can assist the Delegate by proving a detailed professional inventory and valuation of the Interdict’s chattels for this purpose and the disposal of any superfluous chattels thereafter.

Liquidation and Bankruptcy
Simon Drieu & Co Limited has a considerable amount of experience and expertise in dealing with the intricacies of liquidation and bankruptcy cases.
We offer the preparation of a detailed inventory and valuation of the chattels concerned for the benefit of the Creditors and once instructions are received disposal of items by auction thereafter. We always ensure the appointment of one of our experienced Directors to oversee and co-ordinate the entire process to assist the appointed Liquidator.
Situations sometimes arise when a company wishes to dispose of a large quantity of stock or ceases to trade. Transportation of the chattels to our Auction Rooms may prove to be too complicated or simply too costly. This situation may warrant an onsite auction sale.
Simon Drieu & Co Limited is the Channel Islands premier auctioneering company when instructed to conduct an onsite auction sale.
